Mary Beth
Founder/Educational Therapist
Raised in a small Midwestern town, Mary Beth found her calling after a career in finance, a leap of faith, and a life-changing moment volunteering in a New York preschool classroom...
There were two three-year-old boys about whom she had naively made early assumptions. The first boy was highly verbal and engaged, answering every question at circle time — she assumed he was the brightest kid in the room. The second struggled to speak clearly, was often disruptive, and seemed disconnected — she assumed he was not.
One day, she spent nearly ten minutes working on a puzzle with the first boy, carefully demonstrating how to match colors and shapes. When they finished, the second boy sat down with the same puzzle and solved it within thirty seconds. She was floored — and more than a little humbled...
Intrigued and inspired, she went on to earn her Master's in Early Childhood General and Special Education from Bank Street College of Education. She spent a decade as a special education teacher in New York City, working with students with diverse strengths and weaknesses. In 2021, she completed her post-graduate certificate in Educational Therapy at CSUN — and From the Heart Learning Solutions was born.
When she's not in session, you'll find her on a hiking trail with Lucy. The outdoors recharges her — and honestly, so does Lucy.

Lizzy
Learning Specialist
Lizzy has a gift for making math feel less like a mountain and more like a puzzle worth solving. She earned her teaching credential in math and has several years of experience as an elementary and middle school math teacher and math intervention specialist, supporting students with diverse learning needs.
Drawn to math for its reputation and challenge, Lizzy is passionate about helping students rethink their relationship with the subject. As someone who is neurodivergent, she understands that every child learns differently and believes that struggles in math are often rooted in how it’s taught, not a student’s ability. Her teaching style is fun, playful, and creative, while always supporting the whole child, including their emotional well-being.
Lizzy works one-on-one and in small groups to build foundational skills, confidence, and self-trust. She collaborates with families and educators to create individualized strategies that meet each student where they are. For Lizzy, the most rewarding part of her work is helping students shift how they see themselves and realize they are capable learners.
She grew up in Agoura Hills, California, and outside of work, she loves salsa dancing, yoga, beach volleyball, and spending time with her rescue dog, Tallulah. Lizzy is currently completing her Educational Therapy Certificate and will begin training this summer in PAF, an Orton-Gillingham–based structured literacy program.

Lucy
Director of Emotional Support
Lucy is a 57-pound white Boxer with a gift for knowing exactly when someone needs a little extra love. She joined the team in 2024 and has been an irreplaceable part of the office ever since.
Lucy comes to sessions not as a distraction, but as a presence — the kind that makes a nervous student take a breath, a frustrated learner crack a smile, and a tough day feel a little more manageable. She is sweet, loving, and endlessly playful.
When she's not on duty, Lucy can be found hiking the trails of Southern California with Mary Beth, living her best life.
